About Us

IWCNZ'S aim:

At the Islamic Women’s Council of New Zealand (IWCNZ), our mission is to connect, support and develop Muslim women across Aotearoa. We work to promote understanding and the active participation of Muslim women in all aspects of society. Our vision is a New Zealand where Muslim women are respected, valued, and integrated into the community, free from discrimination and prejudice.

Background & Objectives:

The CHILL Campaign is a social media campaign aims to provide a platform for Muslim women in New Zealand to share their stories, to celebrate and to inspire.  In the process, we hopt to counter negative and false gendered stereotypes The campaign’s four key objectives are:

IWCNZ Objectives

Activities

To incorporate the promotion of Islam through activities such as Women’s Conferences, Youth Camps, Educational Programmes, Islamic Quizzes, Quran Reading Competitions, etc at local and national levels.

Conferences

To organise conferences and symposiums at a national level, including the IWCNZ annual conference.

Wellbeing

To promote the holistic wellness of Aotearoa New Zealand Muslimah that incorporates health, spirituality, physical, occupational, environmental, emotional, intellectual, cultural, and social well-being.

Support

To support Muslim women in identifying issues and providing information and resources relating to its members needs.To liaise with women groups on a national and international level to advance and lobby for its members.

Community

To work to enhance unity amongst all sectors of the Muslim community in NZ.To represent Muslim women from all ethnic, cultural and age diversity groups at a local and national level.

Morality

IWCNZ shall seek to avoid any practices that are contrary to Islam and thus will endeavor to promote a platform of unity, peace, love, respect, humanity, and kinship.

‍NATIONAL COORDINATOR

 IWCNZ National Coordinator, conceptualised and drove the creation of the CHILL Campaign with her strategic vision and leadership.

Project Manager

 IWCNZ Project Manager, expertly oversaw the CHILL campaign production process, ensuring smooth execution and high standards.

Community Development Lead

IWCNZ Community Development Lead,  promoted engagement and support for the CHILL Campaign, building strong community connections and involvement in the campaign.

YOUTH WORKER FOR AUCKLAND

IWCNZ Youth Worker for Auckland: infused the CHILL Campaign with her energy and vision, ensuring its success through her dedicated efforts.

YOUTH WORKER FOR OUTER REGIONS

IWCNZ Youth Worker for Outer Regions,  brought wisdom and vision that  were essential to the CHILL Campaign, supported the development of the campaign.
